Campaign Unavailable We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit Human Rights First. The short explanation of this alert was: The U.S. military and other government agencies run secret detention centers around the world where people caught up in a global "war on terror" are held indefinitely and never charged with a crime. In the centers we know exist, such as Abu Ghraib in Iraq, detainees have been tortured and held in inhumane conditions. There have been dozens of deaths among those held in U.S. custody -- and the U.S. military itself has concluded so far that at least five of these cases were the result of torture or other abuse. There is a way to help make sure that no one currently held by the United States is tortured: allow the International Committee of the Red Cross to visit everyone in custody. The right to a visit by the Red Cross is enshrined in the Geneva Conventions, international treaties that the United States has signed also known as the "laws of war." Unfortunately, these are laws the Bush Administration has chosen to ignore. Take Action today! Tell President Bush to allow the Red Cross to visit all held in U.S. custody.
